Having the shine all throughout your house can make your home feel much more luxurious. A clean home is simply unmatched, and you can really feel how clean it is after making sure your surfaces are shined. You can make just about anything shine, it doesn't even have to be inside as even the furniture outside can be shined and returned to its' beauty.

The Common Misconception

Many homeowners that we have talked to say that they use pledge or something similar to provide the shine that they so desperately desire. Well, unfortunately, that is the not the best method, not even close.

Pledge and other supplies can introduce smudges, wear off the stain and overall damage the surfaces that it is applied to. With so many cleaning products appearing to clean it can surprise many of our homeowners after seeing how clean, it can be when using the correct supplies.

The Right Way

You can get just about any surface to shine in the sunlight that is seeping through the windows. The only thing that will keep you from getting that shine on all of your surfaces is if it is porous. Even a piece of furniture that has been painted with flat paint, but properly sealed will have a beautiful and glamorous shine.

Use white vinegar to brighten your windows. Mix 2 tablespoons of white vinegar with a gallon of water, and dispense into a used spray bottle. Squirt on and wipe away with a clean microfiber cloth (not paper towels, which can cause streaking).

Cabinets / Countertops / Silver

Just like your cooking tools, cupboards can get greasy when you're making dinner. Add a little dish soap to a spray bottle with warm water to mist away the grime. Then, rinse with a well-wrung cloth and dry.

You can also introduce a tablespoon of baking soda into your spray that will make it even more effective and allow you to spend more time relaxing. Not only will you have a better clean, but you will also be able to enjoy the smell of this spray much more than a simple water and vinegar mixture.

If you do not want to use a spray and risk missing some you can use an incredibly popular cleaning product called Bar Keepers Friend (Cleaner and Polish). We suggest using the cleaning powder for countertops as all you have to do is sprinkle a little onto a wet surface and scrub. Your countertops will be beautiful and smell amazing.

Glass

Cleaning the glass throughout your home can have one of the biggest impacts on the overall look and feel of your home. With the proper methods and supplies, you can go from murky and streak glass to beautiful and shining glass. When cleaning glass the rag, cloth or any material you are using to wipe the cleaner off will largely impact the outcome. We personally use microfiber towels and switch out often during the process of cleaning to make sure we aren't spreading around chemicals everywhere they don't need to be. Another option is coffee filters since they are lint-free, you can swap them out for paper towels if you don't have any microfiber towels.

Bar Keepers Friend also has a (Soft Cleanser) and a (MORE Spray and Foam) that can both be used for glass that will give you stunning results. It is as simple as using any other glass cleaner and will also get all the hard water spots that you have been struggling to get off for years.

Porcelain

For gentle cleaning, we suggest using our mixture of water, dish soap and baking soda or Bar Keepers Friend. A little scrubbing should remove all the stains and watermarks that can quickly get out of control.

For the toughest of stains on porcelain you can use lemon and table salt. While it may seem crazy it is one of the most effective methods for getting those stains off that seem to be impossible to make a dent in. All you have to do is cover the stain in salt and squeeze a lemon on top of it to the point of forming a paste. You can let it sit for about an hour, but don't forget about it or you may end up with a bigger mess than you started with.

Wood Decking

Cleaning your deck can have one of the largest impacts in your backyard paradise and return that amazing feeling of being able to walk barefoot on your deck without having socks on. The feeling of walking outside in the morning right after waking up and being able to enjoy what you have so rightfully earned is amazing.

The cleaning process can take some time if you haven't cleaned it in a while, but it is definitely worth it no matter to the current state of your deck. You must begin by cleaning out the cracks between each piece of wood. Making sure to remove all of the dirt, wood chips and leaves that have built up in the cracks through time. Once you have cleaned all of your cracks you need to sweep the mess away and make sure that you have a relatively clean surface before starting to scrub.

Once you have swept everything away you are ready to start scrubbing everything that has been built up over time. There are many cleaners on the market and it is all a matter of finding what cleaner results in a clean that you like. If you do not want to go out and buy a cleaner you can use a mixture of half water and half bleach, making sure that it doesn't sit too long or you could damage your decking.

Deep Cleaning Can Take Time

When you have a large project on your hands it can take up to several hours to clean something properly and entirely. That is why we offer all these extras when we come to clean your home to make sure that you have the most beautiful home you can. There is no reason to live with old stains as they are so easy to remove and make a massive impact.
